We have sequenced, assembled and annotated the genome of a male jaguar ( Panthera onca ) from Argentina (a specimen named Tango registered with the ToLID mPanOnc1). The assembly was obtained combining ONT, Illumina and public Hi-C data from the San Diego DNA Zoo (female specimen). The chromosome-level assembly (2.4 Gb) meets the EBP 6.C.Q40 standard it has contig N50 of 20.64 Mb, scaffold N50 of 147 Mb, BUSCO C:96.2%[S:95.6%,D:0.6%],F:1.0%,M:2.8% (using mammalia_odb10), QV 40.06, Kmer completeness of 98.17% and low level of false duplications=0.56%.
